PLATINUM PARTNER PROGRAM

ViVOtech technology offers new revenue stream for carriers,
expands loyalty programs for retailers

BURLINGAME, Calif., Symbian Partner event, Sept. 18, 2003 –ViVOtech, a leader in contactless payments software, announced today that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Partner Program. The program allows ViVOtech to showcase its technology to Symbian OS licensees and partners, aiding commercialization of ViVOwallet . ViVOtech is currently showcasing its software suite of products that includes ViVOwallet, ViVOpay reader and ViVOplatform in the Hyatt Regency bar at the Symbian Partner event today.

ViVOtech will make its ViVOwallet software available to Symbian mobile devices, enabling users of Symbian OS phones to make payments using their phone. The new application, customized for the Symbian OS, will also enable wireless service providers to generate additional revenue per user by selling valuable new services to merchants without requiring changes to merchant’s point of sale system, reducing customer churn and differentiating their offering for consumers.

Users simply need to point or wave their Symbian OS mobile device to the existing cash register, which is enabled with ViVOpay reader, and the pre-selected card transfers to the merchant for payment or loyalty transaction. The client side ViVOwallet operates everywhere, even in locations without mobile phone coverage, such as inside shopping malls and in rural areas. When within the coverage area, ViVOwallet synchronizes with ViVOplatform’s server side ViVOwallet.

ViVOwallet enabled Symbian mobile devices allow operators to monetize their wireless data networks by providing an additional channel for retailers to promote and target customers. Typical applications include retailer loyalty, gift and pre-paid cards and SMS e-coupons. By carrying them digitally on their phones and using them for payments and to redeem promotions at any enabled location, retailers expand loyalty programs with a new channel to enrich usage and increase participation.
